NEC Introduces Four New Projectors to Complete their Projector Line-up

SYDNEY – June 29, 2004: NEC Australia announces four new portable and installable projectors to expand its broadest line of large area displays in the industry. The new projectors offer improvements in performance, functionality, security and style.

“With our new projectors, users from classroom teachers to corporate executives will find it easier than ever to focus on connecting with their audience, rather than interacting with their projection equipment,” said Steven Macdonald, National Sales Manager. “With NEC, customers can find what they need, no matter what their requirements for large-screen projection may be.”

Affordable Style and Performance, in the Conference Room or Classroom
NEC is introducing three new models in the very popular VT series of affordable, high-performance portable projectors. The VT47, VT470 and VT670 — each of which represents an update to an existing model — offering improved features such as the following:
· Increased brightness: to better overcome ambient light in a room
· Intuitive design: with plug-and-project installation and automatic synchronization with a computer or video source so that anyone can use the projectors, easily
· Improved keystone correction: automatically projects a square image, even if the projector is tilted
· Better security: from both unauthorized use and theft

In addition, these new projectors introduce a new NEC style with a sleek, high-gloss, pearlescent, curved design — so they look great in either a family room or an office.
“We asked ourselves, why do projectors have to look like boxes?” said Steven Macdonald. “Our new styling, which we plan to extend to additional members of the product line in the future, is especially important for customers whose projectors are prominent in a home or business environment.”
The VT47 and VT470 are both SVGA (800 x 600 native resolution) projectors, with brightness of 1500 and 2000 ANSI lumens, respectively. The higher resolution VT670 offers 1024 x 768 native resolution and an amazing 2100 ANSI lumens.
Enhanced security features include password protection to prevent unauthorized users from operating the projectors; the ability to lock cabinet buttons so that, for example, students cannot alter the projector’s controls to interfere with a teacher’s presentation; and a security cable slot to physically lock down projectors to prevent theft.
With its new VT series projectors, NEC becomes the first manufacturer to bring style and performance into the conference room or classroom at such an affordable price: Estimated street prices of these new projectors start at $1,799. These price points are expected to appeal to a broad audience — including markets such as education, small business and small office/home office (SOHO) and home theatre — and to bring new buyers into the projector market.
New Installed Projector With Unsurpassed Quality and Flexibility
NEC also is introducing the MT1075 installation projector, a companion to the company’s MT1065 model. The MT1075 offers superior image quality, higher brightness, and extensive connectivity and installation options. For example, the MT1075 comes with a variety of lenses to provide flexibility in installation, enabling the projector to be placed in different locations in a room.
The new projector also adds functionality to the image sensor, a feature unique to NEC. The image sensor (integrated inside the projector) detects the display area (screen or wall) so that the image can be adjusted automatically. Adjustment options are available for squareness (not only vertically, but also horizontally and diagonally), focus and colour adjustment (depending on the colour of the wall or screen onto which the image is projected). For instance, the MT1075 can be installed on the ceiling of a room, and the auto focus lens capability will allow it to project a perfect image whether onto a wall, a drop-down screen or an interactive whiteboard.
The MT1075, at 4200 ANSI lumens and at 5.9kg, is still light enough to move from room to room.
Pricing, Service and Availability
These new models are available through authorised NEC projector resellers. The VT47 and MT1075 are available in July 2004 and the VT470 and VT670 in August 2004. They will carry recommended retail prices as follows: VT47G = $1,799, VT470G = $2,398, VT670G = $3,767 and MT1075 = $9,795.
