SquizBiz takes home Australian Design Award

 • 30 April, 2004 17:23

On 23 April 2004 Momentum Technologies Group’s SquizBiz™ won an Australian Design Award®, in the business category. SquizBiz, a hardware and software package that converts a video camera into a wireless video streaming system, was also selected as one of 15 products to be exhibited at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.

“It’s a great win for SquizBiz to be recognised in this way, and by such a prestigious award,” said Adele Whish-Wilson, Momentum’s Managing Director.

The judging criteria for the selection were excellence in design and innovative use of new technologies to provide significant benefits to users. The Powerhouse Museum selection placed special emphasis on products that reflect Australia’s cultural heritage such as ‘icon’ products like the Victa Lawnmower, Sunbeam Mixmaster, Australian Cricket Helmet and now, SquizBiz.

“One of the keys to the success of the design process was the excellent working relationship we developed with the designers, Catalyst Design Group. Their amazing design skills coupled with their understanding of the business realities of product development made it a very successful relationship,” said Ms Whish-Wilson.

The Australian Design awards ceremony was held at the Town Hall in Sydney. In attendance were major companies such as Victa, Philips, Ford and Holden. Winners were announced during dinner.

Momentum’s SquizBiz has received significant recognition over the past nine months, receiving the BlackBox Award for Innovation, the CommsWorld Telecomms Award for Excellence in Innovation, an honourable mention in the Australian Telecommunications Users Group (ATUG) Awards, and a place as one of four finalists for the AIMIA Best E-business Product or Service.

SquizBiz has many applications and is currently being used to: broadcast events over the Internet; increase sales (wholesale and retail); provide remote technical support; enable e-learning; provide communication between offices; diagnose animal illnesses remotely; enable supplier–client communications; and much more.
