Communications Software Veteran Brings Wireless Expertise to Anti-Spam Leader</p>
<p>San Francisco, CALIF. – May 12, 2004 – Brightmail, the global leader in anti-spam technology, today announced the appointment of Ken Denman to its Board of Directors. Denman is president and chief executive officer of iPass Inc. (Nasdaq: IPAS), a leading provider of services and software that allow an enterprise's mobile workers to connect easily and securely to their corporate networks.</p>
<p>Denman brings more than twenty years of IT and communications industry expertise to Brightmail’s Board of Directors, with experience in both domestic and global markets. At iPass Ken has guided the company in leveraging the explosion in new broadband and wireless access technologies to make them real and globally available to any enterprise or service provider.  Under his leadership, the company has remade itself from a privately-held aggregator of dial-up remote access networks, into a public company that provides a broad array of access technologies that can be trusted to meet the needs of large enterprise customers with thousands of traveling and telecommuting employees all which require secure access to their corporate networks, mission critical applications, email and the Internet.</p>

<p>Prior to joining iPass, Ken was the founder, president and CEO of AuraServ Communications, a managed service provider of broadband voice and data applications.  He has a strong background in the wireless industry, having held executive positions in the wireless and broadband divisions of MediaOne and US WEST.  Ken was senior vice president of the National Markets Group at MediaOne’s Domestic Broadband Unit before founding AuraServ.  Prior to that, he was chief operating officer - wireless, with board representation and P&amp;L responsibility for the portfolio of international GSM Joint Ventures companies of MediaOne International, headquartered in London.</p>
<p>Ken holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from Central Washington University and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Washington.</p>
