Postbak signs PHDSites in online retail deal

 • 20 May, 2004 15:36

(Sydney, Australia – May 20, 2004) – Postbak Pty Ltd, Australia’s innovative national lost and found service announced today that it has signed PHDSites Pty Limited, Australia’s leading vertical market e-shop, to retail the Postbak Return I.T. packs through its PC Dealer website.

"More and more Australians are carrying an increasing number of portable valuables. This leads to thousands of lost and found items each and every day, many of which remain unclaimed in lost & found offices throughout the country," explained Russ Supplee, Postbak director. "Now, when PHDSites customers purchase their valuable electronics like PDAs, laptops and digital cameras online, they’ll have the opportunity to protect them before subjecting them to the risk of potential loss,” added Supplee.

Postbak combines permanent identification labels with a website and freecall registration process to recover lost portable items such as mobile phones, keys, cameras, PDAs, and laptop computers.

"Our customers carry their lives with them in their mobile phones, PDAs, keys and cameras," said Andrew Schirmer, Managing Director of PHDsites. "Postbak presents a perfect tool for getting life's valuables - the stuff that people carry around day-to-day - returned to them quickly and easily," added Schirmer.

Each Postbak label has a unique ID number linking the portable item to the owner. Owners register their items with Postbak online at www.postbak.com.au or by contacting Postbak on 1800 893 383. If a Postbak client loses an item and it is recovered by Postbak, then Postbak clients only pay a service fee of $25.00 to have the item returned, plus shipping and handling.

"We seek high-quality partners that add value to our product mix," commented Schirmer. "Postbak reports that 90% of all items reported lost are returned. PHDsites is pleased to offer additional peace of mind to our customers."

“This is an important step for us as we build our distribution network across Australia. We are currently working on partnerships and distribution agreements that will give consumers access to Postbak at all sales points, be it online, mass or niche retail,” said Supplee.
