Local Execution of Global Strategy Key to Asia Pacific Success - Novell Q2 Results

 • 25 May, 2004 09:23

Novell has reported an 8 per cent increase in revenue growth on the same period last year in the Asia Pacific region. The Company reported its second quarter (Q2) financial results today.

President of Novell Asia Pacific, Rhonda O'Donnell says the excellent results for Asia Pacific highlight a continuing growth trend in the region after several successive quarters of year-on-year growth.

“North Asia revenue doubled compared to Q2 last year. While this is from a low base, it reflects the success of our local execution of global strategy,” said Ms O’Donnell.

Ms O’Donnell has travelled extensively throughout Asia Pacific in the last five months adapting Novell’s global strategy to the local markets in the region including China and India. According to Ms O’Donnell there is growing demand for open source alternatives in Asia.

“We are now building our Linux business on the back of our SuSE and Ximian acquisitions. Interest in our Linux offering has increased dramatically during the quarter and we expect to see increased Linux revenue in the second half of FY04.

"Following the announcement of Novell's Open Enterprise Server at Brainshare in March, Novell has provided its existing customers with an exciting future incorporating both NetWare and Linux options,” said Ms O’Donnell.

The results indicated that NetWare’s client base remained stable while Identity Management solutions continued to deliver strong results in Australia, New Zealand and Northern Asia, particularly in the telecommunications, financial services and government sectors.

About Novell

Novell is an enterprise software and solutions company specialising in Secure Identity Management, IT Resource Management, Web Services and Linux, and creates technical and business solutions to support these areas of expertise.
