Foxtel Digital PDR

Those of you already using or thinking of subscribing to the Foxtel Digital service now have the option of purchasing the Foxtel PDR (personal hard disk recorder) set-top box, which integrates perfectly with Foxtel's electronic program guide.

We've tested it and using the guide is a breeze with the PDR's remote control, which has colour-coded buttons for one-touch recording: you don't have to fiddle with messy time settings.

To ensure you don't miss the start or ending of a show, the PDR starts recording 5mins early and finishes 5mins late. Recordings are stored on a 160GB hard drive and a library interface allows you to find previous recordings efficiently.

It's worth noting that some content from Foxtel's recent release movie channel will have an expiration date, which means that recorded movies will be automatically deleted from the hard drive after 72 hours.

A very cool feature of the Foxtel PDR is its dual-tuner design that allows two shows to be recorded at once. Additionally, you can view a recording while simultaneously recording up to two channels. The player also supports timeshifting. This allows you to pause and rewind a live broadcast and to watch the start of a broadcast while recording the ending.

For maximum viewing pleasure and convenience, this product is a must!

It's available for Foxtel Digital subscribers on either satellite or cable connections. Pricing should be under $500, but call Foxtel for full costing details.

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
