Adaptec Announces New Capacity, New Performance, and Lower Price on its Award-Winning Snap Server 4500

<p>Snap Server 4500 Beats Out Competition to Win Editor's Choice Awards from PC Magazine and Technology &amp; Business</p>
<p>Sydney, Australia - 3 June 2005 - Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), a global leader in storage solutions, today announced that it has enhanced its popular Snap Server 4500 product line with a faster 3.0GHz Pentium™ processor as well as increased storage scalability (up to 13.6TB). Combined with a reduced price as low as $6.40/GB (incl. tax) and two new industry awards, critics clearly believe that the Snap Server 4500 is one of the industry's best values in Network Attached Storage (NAS) available today.</p>
<p>In April 2005, Snap Server 4500 beat out NAS servers from HP and Iomega, among others, to bring home the prized Editor's Choice award from PC Magazine, which referred to the Snap Server 4500 as the "most integrated, feature-packed NAS solution available."
According to PC Magazine, "The Snap Server 4500 is the best solution for providing good network integration because it offers proactive, integrated data protection and recovery. What we like most about the Snap Server 4500 is the integration of add-ons, especially the security additions. These make the 4500 more of a storage solution than just a piece of storage hardware attached to your network."</p>
<p>Similarly, the Snap Server 4500 claimed the top prize in Technology &amp; Business magazine's (an Australian ZDNet publication) May 2005 test and comparison of NAS storage devices suited for the medium enterprise.</p>
<p>This review, conducted by RMIT IT Test Labs, examined three NAS devices from EMC, Sun and Adaptec. The Snap Server 4500 won the Editor's Choice award against the competing NAS servers, which were up to four times more expensive than the Adaptec Snap Server. Not only did the Snap Server 4500 match the EMC and Sun units in features, it also out-performed the competition in simultaneous Read/Write performance testing.</p>
<p>To quote from the review: "Given its low price, the performance of the Snap Server 4500 was a surprise. The 4500 was at times quite close to the Sun in terms of throughput per second, and during the simultaneous Read/Write test it was slightly faster than the Sun. And because of the 4500's low cost per GB, it was by a large margin the lowest price of all units tested. In the end, the Snap Server 4500's low cost, good performance, and feature set are enough to carry it through to win the Editors Choice."</p>

<p>Since these reviews, the Snap Server 4500 is now even more robust with an improved 3.0GHz Pentium processor, option for a larger 1.6TB base configuration, as well as better storage scalability.
