Atdec’s Spacedec Acrobat modular mounting system allows 360° rotation and 40° tilt of screens

Spacedec Acrobat computer/AV screen mounting systems maximise desk space without sacrificing strength, ergonomics, or style.

SYDNEY, Australia, June 17, 2005: The Spacedec Acrobat modular visual display mounting system from Australian designer and manufacturer, Atdec Pty Limited, meets the ergonomic and space-saving needs of most office applications. Spacedec Acrobat mounting systems are strong enough to safely support LCD computers or audio/visual displays. They are extremely flexible, allowing a screen rotation capability of 360 degrees and a tilt of 40 degrees. They are robust and stylish enough for a variety of applications.

The new product is designed for office, medical, retail banking and industrial applications but is also suitable for anyone using a flat panel screen.

“Like the acrobat it is named for, this new mounting system is strong, flexible and good looking,” said Atdec Managing Director, Stephen Crozier. “These were the criteria we set for our designers when upgrading our popular Spacedec articulated arm product – and they delivered.”

Spacedec Acrobat’s versatile modular design provides mounting capability for single flat panel displays from 30cm (12”) to 56cm (22)”, supporting screen weights up to 9kgs. Stability and safety have been tested and approved by the Australasian Furniture Research Institute and Furniture Industry Research Association UK. Components were tested for 20,000 cycles without the need to re-adjust.

Flexibility and Comfort
The arm swings 180 degrees around the mounting post, and 360 degrees around the middle articulated post and 180 degrees around the end of the arm. The fitting which connects to the screen has a patented ball movement inside it which enables the screen to be rotated 360 degrees. The arm can be adjusted up to 515mm in height so it will fit in any space or at any angle. All joints are totally adjustable for flexibility and ease of use. The arm can be clamped or bolted to a desk and there is also a direct wall mount option.

To achieve the optimum, most comfortable and space-saving working position, the display can be easily altered to the user’s specific requirements. Height, tilt and viewing distance can be controlled from a seated position, as required by Australian Standard AS 3590.1.

Available in black or the new polished aluminium finish, the Spacedec Acrobat articulated mounting system complements today’s corporate décor.

“Atdec partners with most of the key AV organisations such as NEC, Hitachi, Fujitsu, Samsung, LG, BenQ, Sharp and IBM designing equipment to suit their individual products. These relationships and our own research keep us informed of worldwide trends ensuring our products meet consumer demand and emerging technology requirements,” said Mr Crozier. “The move to the new polished aluminium and stylish black finishes was a result of this collaboration.”

As with all Atdec products, Spacedec Acrobat comes with hardware and built-in cable management to eliminate unsightly and unsafe tangled leads, is easy to install and has a two-year warranty.

Competitively priced, the range will be available from July through leading information technology resellers and major commercial furniture companies such as Thinking Ergonomix and CEDIA members as well as retailers including Harvey Norman and Domayne. Atdec’s Australian State distributors are: Ground Floor Marketing (Vic and Tas), Debetrek (Qld and NT), Sylex (WA), Greg North (SA) and Corporate Express; New Zealand distributors are Sylex and Metrolink.

Spacedec Acrobat will be on display at Booth 21 at the CEDIA EXPO 05 on Queensland’s Gold Coast, July 29-31, 2005.
