IBM to Resell VERITAS Cluster Server and Storage Foundation™ Products

Available on IBM eServer xSeries and BladeCenter Servers for Linux and Windows

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – June 22, 2005 – VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS) today announced an agreement that allows IBM to resell VERITAS Cluster Server and Storage Foundation products with IBM eServer xSeries and BladeCenter servers for RedHat and SUSE Linux and Microsoft Windows.

The addition of VERITAS high availability, volume and file system management software, including: VERITAS Cluster Server, Storage Foundation, Storage Foundation for Oracle RAC and Storage Foundation for Databases (including the IBM DB2 Universal Database), to the IBM portfolio of xSeries and BladeCenter solutions, significantly enhances IBM’s ability to provide its customers a range of solutions that help them more cost-effectively and efficiently manage their heterogeneous server and storage infrastructures. The agreement is a reflection of both companies’ commitment to provide offerings that make it easier for customers to manage, deploy and maintain multi-platform environments.

“IBM’s agreement with VERITAS is another step in our continuing efforts to offer our customers the industry’s most comprehensive set of business solutions designed to meet their most pressing business requirements,” said Jim Northington, vice president of IBM eServer xSeries High-Performance Systems. “We believe the VERITAS products will add value to what already is one of the most robust, reliable and available x86 server lines on the market, and also help make it easier for our mutual customers in their server consolidation efforts to Linux and Windows on xSeries and BladeCenter servers.”

VERITAS Cluster Server helps reduce application downtime and protect everything from a single database instance to globally dispersed clusters across all major operating systems. VERITAS Storage Foundation software combines VERITAS Volume Manager and VERITAS File System to simplify client file system management and improve the utilization of complex storage systems. IBM will also resell VERITAS Storage Foundation for Databases (DB2) and Storage Foundation for Oracle® RAC on Linux. These offerings are aimed at helping customers accelerate server consolidation strategies, reduce application downtime and improve the performance and manageability of system infrastructure.

“Our mutual customers have been encouraging stronger collaboration between IBM and VERITAS to help accelerate their server consolidation strategies and reduce application downtime,” said Sanjay Poonen, vice president, Strategic Alliances, VERITAS Software. “Customers can take advantage of VERITAS high-availability, volume and file system management software, helping them to more easily deploy and manage heterogeneous server environments, and making it significantly easier for them to do business with both IBM and VERITAS. We also see this as continued validation of VERITAS’ high availability and storage foundation technology in the market.”
