Kodak Bridges Technology Divide in Australia

 • 02 August, 2004 09:53

Melbourne, 2 August 2004 – Kodak aims to make digital photography accessible to all Australians with the launch of its corporate social responsibility program – “Kodak Connects” - in Australia today.

“Kodak Connects” is a national social program created to help Australian schools, communities and charity groups preserve their special moments using digital photography equipment donated by Kodak. Kodak will contribute about A$30,000 in value of products from its range of Kodak EasyShare digital cameras, Kodak EasyShare printer docks, inkjet photo papers or accessories through the “Kodak Connects” program in the first year.

“Kodak Connects is about making digital photography more accessible to Australians. Although the price of digital cameras has fallen over the years, some segments of society still do not have access to these products. Through Kodak Connects, we are providing them the means to preserve everyday and once-in-a-lifetime memories through Kodak’s EasyShare digital photography system,” said Steve Morley, General Manager, Digital and Film Imaging Division, Australia & New Zealand.

To mark the launch of “Kodak Connects”, Kodak will be participating in the 2004 NSW Variety Bash, an annual motoring fundraising event organised by Variety, The Children’s Charity from August 8-19. The rally will raise funds for disabled and disadvantaged children throughout Australia.

During the rally, Kodak will be giving out packages comprising of a Kodak EasyShare digital camera, printer dock, inkjet print packs and a variety of inkjet picture papers to nine remote schools it stops at during the race between Burramatta in New South Wales and Bathers Beach in Western Australia. These schools include:

• Rugby Primary School (NSW)

• Kalinda Special School (NSW)

• Ivanhoe Central School (NSW)

• Yunta Rural School (SA)

• Woomera State School (SA)

• Coober Pedy Area School (SA)

• Yulara Public School (NT)

• Leonora Public School (WA)

• Kalgoorie South Public School (WA)

The Kodak team comprises of Alf Neubauer from East Malvern (VIC), Ben McIntosh from Loganholme (QLD), Brian Dougan from Newport (VIC) and Glen Gregory from YarraVille (VIC).

Globally, Kodak has contributed over US$11.5 million to a variety of causes in health and human services; education; arts, culture and humanities and environment and animals.
