SCO Certified for Hewlett Packard Array Storage Systems

 • 03 August, 2004 10:01

The SCO Group, Inc. ("SCO") (Nasdaq: SCOX), the owner of the UNIX(R) operating system and a leading provider of UNIX-based solutions, has announced the certification of its SCO operating system products, SCO OpenServer and SCO UnixWare, on Hewlett Packard's Modular Smart Array (MSA) 1000 and 500 products. The announcement follows the recent introduction of SCO UnixWare 7.1.4, a major upgrade to the UnixWare product line providing increased security, hardware, application and Web Services support.

Designed to reduce the complexity and risk of SAN deployments, HP's MSA1000 provides small and medium sized businesses with a low-cost, scalable, high performance storage consolidation system. The MSA1000 is easily expanded to 6 TB using forty-two 146 GB hard drives. The recent certification allows SCO UNIX customers to purchase a complete storage solution that meets the demands of business critical computing environments. This comes at a time government regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA mandate that businesses maintain better records for a longer period of time.

"The combination of Hewlett Packard's storage system expertise with the security, affordability and reliability of SCO UNIX will satisfy the growing demand for a robust, easily managed, 'all in one' storage device for the SMB market," said Jeff Hunsaker, Senior Vice President and General Manager, SCO UNIX Division. "The combination of HP Proliant Servers with the Modular Storage Array will provide a level of unmatched reliability and value to SCO UNIX customers."

Availability:

HP's MSA SAN solutions are available today to run on SCO UnixWare 7.1.4 and SCO OpenServer 5.0.7. For more information on HP Modular Smart Array products running on SCO operating systems, contact your local SCO or HP sales representative.
