Network Appliance Delivers First Support Solution Designed Exclusively for Government Agencies

 • 19 July, 2005 11:40

Created in collaboration with top government customers, NetApp SupportEdge Secure for Government is a highly customised service package addressing unique needs of government agencies

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), has announced SupportEdge Secure for Government, the industry’s first support offering to address the mission-critical requirements of government customers. SupportEdge Secure for Government provides confidential and secure assistance in the support and management of NetApp storage solutions to both classified and nonclassified government agencies. SupportEdge Secure delivers comprehensive yet flexible service, offering customers self-support, enhanced remote support, or on-site support options based on the required level of security.

With this offering, NetApp has designed a pioneering set of tools that allows filtering of restricted or classified information from government files prior to making them available for troubleshooting purposes. And should a government customer’s policies prevent that customer from providing even filtered information, NetApp will dedicate a team of professionals with the appropriate security clearances to work on-site at the customer’s facility.

Mark Heers, Network Appliance Director of Marketing and Alliances for Australia and New Zealand, said, “Responsible government agencies everywhere face similar challenges in respect of stored data of a sensitive or semi-sensitive nature and we see SupportEdge Secure for Government as potentially giving us yet more muscle for our fast-expanding Canberra office.”

Government customers are in a unique position in that they cannot transmit the information necessary to support them through traditional processes. Therefore it has historically been difficult for vendors to proactively monitor and diagnose issues, which sometimes cause lengthy delays in the resolution of problems. SupportEdge Secure for Government addresses these unique requirements through customised self-help and data filtering tools, compartmentalised remote support teams and on-site technicians with the appropriate security clearances. Utilising specialised processes and support methodologies, NetApp is able to support government customers without visibility into the highly secure locations, systems, or data.

SupportEdge Secure for Government enhances the NetApp Global Services family of SupportEdge offerings now available, including SupportEdge Premium and SupportEdge Standard. SupportEdge Premium features sophisticated monitoring and diagnostic tools plus regular system availability audits of installed equipment to help anticipate problems before they affect availability. When necessary, a highly skilled technician will visit on-site to troubleshoot and problem solve in conjunction with the experts in the Global Support Centre. SupportEdge Standard enables small to medium-sized businesses or remote locations to receive proactive audits and software subscriptions. Together the SupportEdge suite of services offers unprecedented flexibility, allowing enterprise customers to create an integrated support strategy encompassing everything from corporate data centers to remote offices.

Availability
SupportEdge Secure for Government will be available in early August. For more information about availability, call Network Appliance Australia on 1800 148 616.
