Verbatim Australia/NZ awarded Macromedia Showcase Site

 • 29 July, 2004 09:32

Verbatim is renowned for being at the forefront of data storage technology, leading the market with innovative quality products with features such as fastest speeds, highest capacities and broadest compatibility. This week, Verbatim Australia was recognised for an innovation in another field. The Verbatim Australia website,, has been awarded and showcased by Macromedia for being at the cutting edge of internet technology and information delivery.

Developed by award-winning Melbourne web design studio, Evolution 7, the Verbatim project was an exercise in building a cutting-edge and stylish product-driven site on top of legacy infrastructure. The Verbatim brand was repositioned to address the growing consumer electronics market segment, and the website was brought up to date with the latest technology software, including Macromedia’s ColdFusion, Flash and Contribute.

Since the site’s redevelopment in 2002, traffic to the site has grown nearly 100%. Product enquiry, registration, and support forms are now fully automated. ColdFusion has been used to implement a daily schedule of collecting and parsing data from a secure corporate server, and then publishing it live onto the website. Every day the application checks over 3000 products and categories for any modifications and publishes changes live to the site as they occur in the legacy database. The entire product database, driver downloads, reseller, product inquiry and support forms are driven by a powerful ColdFusion based content management system. This ensures that content across the site is kept up-to-date and informative.

The Verbatim Australia website is currently being showcased on the Macromedia website at the following URL:
