BigAir Launches business-grade Voice over IP

New VoIP Services over wireless enable businesses to eliminate legacy PSTN and ISDN lines

With a vision of the 100 percent wireless IP office, BigAir Australia Pty Ltd (BigAir) has introduced new business-grade Voice over IP (VoIP) services, which enable businesses to bypass the traditional telephony network (PSTN and ISDN) and substantially cut costs in the process.

Using BigAir’s wireless last mile network and the company’s new IP-Centrex services, businesses can eliminate their reliance on traditional phone lines thereby cutting communication costs, and also access a range of high-end PABX features including voice mail, interactive voice response (IVR), auto attendant, call grouping and transfers without the need to invest in expensive PABX systems.

“We have a solution for businesses looking to reduce their monthly calling costs and expensive line rental costs. BigAir’s new business-grade VoIP and IP-Centrex services provide significant savings and at the same time provide SMEs with advanced telephony features,” said Jason Ashton, joint managing director, BigAir.

BigAir can provide brand new desktop IP phones from $250, which include PABX functionality and competitive call rates including 10c local calls, and 10c untimed long distance to capital cities including Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Calls to fixed lines in popular international destinations like the USA, UK, HK, and Japan are 5c per minute. A fully featured in-dial number is available from $5 per month, and this is able to replace a more expensive traditional phone line.

“The PABX features offered with a BigAir supplied handset include call grouping, call waiting, voice mail, IVR, auto attendant and call forwarding. Alternatively we can interface with an existing PABX system in order for businesses to take advantage of the VoIP savings while leveraging their existing infrastructure. All BigAir services have one thing in common - they offer businesses the opportunity to break free of the expensive copper line network,” Jason Ashton added.

As part of its vision for the 100 percent wirelessly connected IP office, BigAir also offers web hosting, email services, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), along with its business-grade highspeed broadband services.

In addition, businesses that are suffering with the frustration of an unreliable or slow (first generation) broadband Internet connection will find BigAir offers some of the fastest and most affordable broadband Internet services available in Australia. The BigAir website provides a free speed test in order to help businesses benchmark their existing broadband service. (<http:>)</http:>

In order to be competitive today, businesses need to remain in constant contact with their customers, suppliers, partners and colleagues - whether it be on the phone, sending and receiving files, or accessing the office VPN. BigAir now enables all these applications over its wireless last mile IP network, helping customers trim their communications costs and operate more efficiently.

BigAir’s business-grade communications services include:

Business-grade Broadband Internet
Services range from 2Mbps symmetric up to 100Mbps symmetric.

Web Hosting and Co-location Services
BigAir hosting and e-mail services are provided from the Global Switch data centre in Ultimo, Sydney, which is the largest data centre in the Southern Hemisphere. It also serves as a basestation for BigAir’s wireless last mile network.

Back-up data links
High capacity backup links are available for disaster recovery (DR) and can be routed in private VLAN’s back to customer servers located within the Global Switch data centre. These wireless links are non-terrestrial making them immune to cable and fiber cuts in traditional communication networks.

Business-grade VoIP and IP-Centrex services
Business-grade IP telephony solutions include Centrex features delivered over an IP network offering significant upfront and ongoing savings versus traditional PABX/PSTN systems. Phone number portability is available.

About BigAir
BigAir is a licensed telecommunications carrier that has rolled out its broadband services across Sydney using state of the art wireless equipment. Through bypassing Telstra’s local loop, BigAir is able to deliver "fibre-like" broadband Internet services at speeds of up to 100Mbps to businesses and high-rise commercial buildings. The broadband services offer business-grade reliability and performance but avoid the large set-up costs associated with landline services and can be installed in as little as a few hours.
