Optima launches new widescreen multimedia notebook

<p>SYDNEY, Australia - Optima Technology Solutions (ASX:OPI), the leading Australian computer manufacturer, has released its latest widescreen notebook for home and business users requiring superior multimedia capabilities and high performance functionality.</p>
<p>Based on the latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, the Optima Centoris KN Series notebook is ideal for power-hungry users that enjoy the freedom of mobile computing. With a range of high-performance features and a battery that enables up to four hours of continuous usage, the new notebook has been built from the ground up to support maximum mobility and portability.</p>
<p>"Our latest feature-rich Centrino notebook is a strong and responsive unit that hits the market at a sub-$2,000 price point, ensuring that customers get real value for money," said Henry Lee, Notebook Product Manager, Optima. "From the lounge room to the boardroom, the KN Series has the power to deliver a strong multimedia performance, supporting a wide range of applications and tasks."</p>
<p>The KN Series has been optimised for media, featuring an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900 for outstanding visual quality and colour. Supporting up to128 MB of memory, the GMA900 delivers advanced 3D graphics performance and also allows for dual independent display.</p>
<p>The notebook includes a Mobile Intel 915GM Express Chipset, which supports Intel's new PCI Express graphics interface and up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, for bandwidth-hungry applications. It also features integrated high-definition 5.1 Channel surround sound and a large 15.4-inch LCD (1200x800) - ideal for watching DVDs, playing high-definition audio and digital content creation.</p>
<p>"The KN Series is a versatile and functional notebook, featuring a selection of USB 2.0 and Firewire ports for connection to a whole range of external devices," said Lee. "It can be adapted to any home or office environment, and can be used as a home theatre system, for listening to MP3s or for business critical applications."</p>
<p>Additional features of the KN Series notebook include an integrated Dual Layer DVD+/-RW Burner, an integrated touch pad with scroll functions, and a durable, lightweight case. The notebook is now available from Optima and its nationwide dealer network from RRP$1,799.</p>
