Optima’s first storage server to rival costly, high-end business solutions

 • 16 November, 2005 11:29

Optima Technology Solutions (ASX:OPI), the leading Australian computer manufacturer, has launched its first storage solution, providing organisations with a reliable and cost-effective way to manage, protect and access business critical resources.

The Optima Vizon Storage Server is a high-performance, self-contained IP SAN storage solution ideal for medium-sized businesses, remote offices and small data centres. The new server includes a range of advanced storage pooling features and services and is powered by Falconstor IPStor, an innovative iSCSI technology that simplifies storage management and delivers a unique selection of backup capabilities.

“To meet customer demand for easy storage and back-up management, we have released our first storage solution, offering a collection of storage services and capabilities that rival the more costly high-end solutions,” said Ole Mortensen, Product Marketing Manager, Optima. “It is easy to use, supports IP SAN and - most importantly - is available at a low price point, making it an ideal solution for anyone considering networked storage.”

The storage server can be customised to meet exact specifications, ensuring it effectively supports current company needs and future business growth. It can be used for a range of zero impact backup, centralised backup and fast restore activities, or built with a range of additional features to meet advanced mission critical requirements.

“With open ended scalability and the capacity to support emerging technologies such as 64-bit processors, the Vizon storage is ideally positioned to grow with any organisation,” said Mortensen.

With aggregate disk capacity and centralised provisioning over Ethernet, the server simplifies storage capacity management and maximises asset utilisation. It also reduces the need to purchase new servers and ensures efficient use of all existing storage, allowing businesses to minimise operating costs.

The Optima Vizon Storage Server, designed for maximum performance and reliability, also features an Intel Xeon Processor, 12GB DDR2 memory and redundant power and fans. Starting at $9,999 ex GST (one terabyte solution), it is now available from Optima and its value-added resellers around Australia.

About Optima Technology Solutions
Founded in 1989 Optima has grown to become the largest Australian manufacturer of notebook and desktop personal computers, and servers. Headquartered in Sydney, with branch offices in Melbourne and Brisbane, Optima is ideally placed by size and strength to promptly supply and actively support customers through a nationwide supply and service network.
