World’s Largest Mobile Transaction Network Now in Australia

 • 24 November, 2005 14:18

Sydney, Australia – 23 November 2005 -- mBlox, the world’s largest mobile transaction network and specialists in message delivery and billing, is launching Premium SMS (PSMS) services in Australia today. This service enables content providers, application service providers (ASPs) and enterprises to rapidly generate revenue from mobile content and services. To support the move, mBlox has opened an office in Sydney.

Companies and mobile subscribers alike recognise the tremendous benefits and opportunities of mobile messaging, as both a marketing and communications tool. The result is that mobile messaging is quickly being adopted, making it one of the fastest growing technologies on the market today. From ring tones to updates, games to chat, mBlox guarantees to get the message through and collect payment.

mBlox, which is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, has seven offices worldwide with more than 200 staff operating in the USA, Europe and now Australia. Just one connection to the mBlox mobile transaction network gives content providers and application service providers access to international as well as domestic Australian mobile operators. The billing platform and messaging network has been routing SMS messages with carrier-grade reliability since 1999.

The company focuses exclusively sending and receiving application-to-peer (A2P) messages and mobile billing, it does not compete with its own clients by creating content or applications. It solves the challenge of dealing with disparate mobile technologies, country regulations and commercial contracts while meeting local and international compliance regulations.

According to mBlox, Australia is one of the most affluent, techno savvy mobile markets in the world, and with their high usage of SMS services, high penetration of mobiles and high youth usage, it is an ideal arena for mobile entertainment and SMS marketing.

Jeffrey Clark, CEO of mBlox, says: “Our expansion to Australia was essential to further establishing mBlox’s position in the APAC region and servicing clients. Many clients, especially those based in the US and UK, are keen on expanding their businesses to Australia. We have the product offerings, back-up services, experience and knowledge to help them and local clients, generate new revenue and achieve their business goals. Also, our total focus on the delivery and billing component of the mobile business value chain means we offer something truly different in the marketplace – we offer clients the assurance that they are working with a group of mobile transaction network experts who they can trust to have the most reliable and comprehensive services and not compete with their business.”

Hugh Haley, country manager, mBlox Australia, says: “Australia offers a huge opportunity for content providers and ASPs to benefit from PSMS because of business and consumer willingness to embrace technology. Research clearly shows that SMS marketing outperforms traditional media such as direct mail and cost of acquisition is very low, and ROI very high. mBlox’s market knowledge and focus helps clients get up and running quickly and easily so they can start generating revenue both here in Australia and abroad.”
