Kodak and Skype put on free slideshow

Waiting to share photos with long overdue and overseas friends and family will be a thing of the past thanks to a new photo sharing application developed by Kodak and Skype.

The consumer-focused slideshow software, Kodak Photo Voice, allows users to share images online in real-time.

"This photo sharing tool allows Skype users to seamlessly tell stories with friends and family using the Kodak EasyShare Gallery," said Kodak Digital & Film Imaging Systems general manager, Steve Morley.

Users will be able to upload images onto the Kodak EasyShare Gallery (which features unrestricted storage capacity for users) and then create personal slideshows using the Photo Voice software.

The software also promises real-time collaboration features that let users view each others' cursor movements while navigating and talking through images.

Since launching the EasyShare Gallery a year ago, the service has attracted over 50 million registered users and hosts over one billion images, Morley said.

Although the Australian EasyShare Gallery is not yet on par with its US' counterpart which features personalised photo mugs and sticker based products for sale, the Australian market will be equipped with a fully-fledged service once production facilities have been rolled out this year.

The beta version of the application is the first Skype certified online photo sharing application and is available as a free download from www.kodakgallery.com/photovoice.
