Personalised online resource provides Australian small businesses access to
no-cost business and software training and self-help support

Sydney, Australia – 25 January, 2006 – Microsoft Australia today announced Microsoft® Small Business +, a suite of complimentary, personalised online resources and technical support offerings to help small businesses grow and thrive using technology.

Microsoft Small Business + will foster technology skills enhancement which according to AMI Partners Incorporation worldwide survey of small businesses ranks as one of small businesses’ top 10 technology priorities.

Designed to help Australian small businesses improve marketing, finance and business skills with technology, Microsoft Small Business + provides training, self help support and direct feedback for members.

Membership is complimentary for Australian small businesses and can be accessed through the
Microsoft Small Business Centre website which provides a broad array of small business resources.

Ms Therese McGrath, Director, Small Business, Microsoft Australia said, “Microsoft is committed to helping Australian small businesses grow and thrive by developing practical tools and resources and the right products and services for small businesses.

“Microsoft Small Business + is designed with small business education needs in mind and is complemented by the Microsoft Small Business Centre and Microsoft Small Business Specialist programme.

“Small Business + has been built on feedback from our small business customers and we continue to listen to our partners and customers to continue to create a valuable information portal for them,” said Ms McGrath.

Training helps Australian small businesses get the most from their software
Microsoft Small Business + provides personalised software training courses to help small businesses become more productive by utilising Microsoft Office applications such as Excel®, PowerPoint® and Outlook®.

Also included is a library of business training courses developed by third-party experts to help small-business owners and their employees improve role-based skills such as marketing, technology management and financial management.

Mr Mike Cameron, Principal at Australian contract management and technology consultancy, Extractive Consulting, has used the Microsoft Small Business + site in its Australian pilot.

“As a resource, Microsoft Small Business + is an easy to use and comprehensive tool that helps people to understand the processes of operating a small business. Microsoft Small Business + acts as a one-stop-shop, giving users a degree of confidence through practical and logical information, training and technical advice that is not always readily accessible for Australian small businesses,” said Mr Cameron.

With a strong background in business and management, Mr Cameron often provides support to other small businesses through a Victorian-based small business network.

“I often pass around technology training tips, software advice and business information from the Microsoft Small Business Centre meetings with my small business network. With Small Business + Microsoft has created an additional portal that makes business easy,” said Mr Cameron.
