TPP Group, the Australian and New Zealand distributor of the SafeBoot suite of mobile data security and access solutions, today announced the release of SafeBoot MDIsk for securing USB storage devices. Mdisk provides strong user access control for removable USB storage and encrypts the data stored on these devices.

Ced Bradbury, CEO, TPP Group says “ we have seen over the years more and more companies providing employees or allowing them to use, USB devices to store and transport data. With Mdisk companies are now assured that data is stored and transported securely. Only a correct password will unlock Mdisk and allow access to encrypted data”

SafeBoot Mdisk supports USB 1.1 and 2.0 and is powerd by USB bus power. There are six storage capacity options ranging from 64 megabytes to 4 gigabytes. For added security, passwords are retained within the device rather than the host pc and a maximum number of password retries can be set. MDisk’s optional “public’ area will allow the storage on a device of data that will not be encrypted. MDisk will also allow for multiple users on a device, each with there own secure partition.
