Netspace has announced a planned roll-out of its own ADSL2+ service, following the completion of a beta trial of the service in the city.
The beta trial also included the roll-out ADSL 2+ capable DSLAMs made by its equipment provider Ericsson.
At this stage the rollout has been confined to Melbourne only, with Netspace's managing director Stuart Marburg saying the company does not want to get too far ahead of itself.
"Whilst we applaud any move that increases the level of real competition within our industry, as can be seen by the current controversy surrounding Telstra's proposed ULL pricing, the deployment of such infrastructure does not provide any true level of autonomy or real independence to its owners in supplying services to the end customers," he said.
The company is presently finalising its broadband roadmap.
