Samsung Launches Latest Generation of its Proprietary Image Enhancement Display Technology

Samsung Delivers True Sensory Enjoyment with Latest Generation of its Proprietary Image Enhancement Display Technology

07 July 2004: Samsung Electronics today announces two new core patented features for its DNIe (Digital Natural Image Engine) processor technology. Striving to provide consumers with an even more perfect lifelike viewing experience, Samsung has incorporated a 6-time Density Enhancer to increase the number of input pixels to attain sharper detailed images, and an Image Optimizer to provide precise image quality fine-tuning to suit individual users.

DNIe is a technology that ensures customers have the best high-definition quality on all display devices, from plasma displays, LCDs and Projection TVs, to the most recently launched category of DLP TVs.

Under the Image Optimizer feature, customised fine-tuning includes:
•My Colour Control: Allows customized colour preferences, especially for colours like skin tone, green grass, and sky blue where each user has personal preferences, without affecting other colours,
•Dynamic Contrast: Optimizes contrast ratio based on the precise analysis results of input images,
•Intelligent Brightness Control: Detects the brightness of surroundings and allows automatic and manual brightness optimization to the environment to prevent eye fatigue and provide optimum image quality,
•Compensation for Colour weakness: Allows the optimum images for people with colour weakness by providing nine level adjustments for red, green and blue.

“Recent consumer research has proven that consumers are spending more on Home Theatre Systems and large screen TVs due to reduced travel and more time entertaining in the home. A reduction in the price of plasma panels has seen more people moving to this technology. With plasma being a pivotal product in the Australian market this price decrease has caused a subsequent reduction in pricing of Rear Pro and LCD TVs. With the purchase of large screen TVs on the rise new technology, such as DLP, has been introduced and accepted by the Australian market”, said John Fragiadakis, CTV Product Manager, Samsung Electronics.

“With DNIe technology, Samsung will maintain the number one position in the global digital TV market. In Southeast Asia, we have seen phenomenal growth of almost 400% in plasma display sales following the launch of DNIe technology products such as world’s first 63” plasma display,” Fragiadakis continued.

For mid-end Samsung flat-screen TVs from 21 to 29 inch, the company also announces DNIe Jr, a new incorporation of core DNIe features such as the Signal and Colour Optimizer, and Contrast and Detail enhancement.
