OpenInsight for Linux (OIL) now has built-in connectivity to MySQL and any ODBC data source.

Sydney, NSW. – April 21, 2006 - Revelation Software today announced the availability of the latest release of OpenInsight for Linux (OIL), 7.2.1 New to release 7.2.1 is OIL’s DataSet Object, which is the key to unlocking client/server connectivity. The DataSet Object is implemented within the product’s visual Client/Server Workspace, an environment in which developers create and manage database components using a collection of visual tools. These tools include a query window, a SQL script-building assistant, a database connection builder, a DataSet Object definition tool, as well as a data warehousing module. The database access and manipulation components are separated from other application components and are reusable across multiple applications.

“We’re excited to bring the Client/Server workspace functionality to our Linux product.” said Mike Ruane, President and CEO of Revelation Software. “We recognize that MySQL is a leader in the open source database world, and our users want the ability to connect to and work with such a popular product. I feel the combination of our GUI front end and the MySQL back end will make for some very powerful and agile applications.”

OpenInsight for Linux (OIL) is available for evaluation as a download from <http:></http:>. It runs on all major Linux distributions, and on both desktop Linux machines and servers.
