Exabyte Appoints New Sales Director for Asia Pacific Region

<p>Long Term ANZ Country Manager Promoted to APAC Position</p>
<p>Sydney, Australia - May 11, 2006 -- Exabyte Corporation (OTCBB: EXBT), a leading innovator in tape backup, restore and archival systems, today announced the appointment of Mr Richard Giddey to the position of Director APAC sales, effective immediately.</p>
<p>Richard will be responsible for the area from India through China and Korea, SEA and ANZ. It does not include Japan. Exabyte’s extensive sales and support team in the region will now report to Richard. Richard will report to Mr John Gardner, Vice President, worldwide sales.</p>
<p>Richard is a long term employee of Exabyte having joined the company in Australia in December 1999 as country manager for Australia and New Zealand. He previously worked for a number of specialist IT and communications channel organisations in Australia.</p>

IDC now rate us as the leader in the entry level tape automation market ahead of HP, Quantum and Sony, and we just reported a 16% growth year on year for our first quarter in sales of our low end VXA Packet Tape products. I am keen to help my team in APAC increase awareness for Exabyte in the SME market, and of course sales.”</p>
