Let the tax returns begin - HandiSoft first to deliver Tax 2004 software

 • 28 June, 2004 11:00

Sydney – 28 June 2004 – HandiSoft Software, the leading supplier of practice management and taxation solutions to small and medium sized accounting practices, today announced that it dispatched its 2004 tax software updates for Accountants and Tax Agents on 17 June 2004.

HandiSoft has more than 5,700 Australian accounting practices and tax agents currently using HandiSoft software. These accountants will be the first to receive compliant tax software for the 2003/2004 financial year, allowing them to begin preparing tax returns ahead of competitors using alternative software.

HandiTax has been updated to comply with the 2004 ELS & paper specifications provided by the Australian Tax Office (ATO), including: Functional Currency, Trans-Tasman imputation, Pensioner Tax Offsets, Government pension and the new client update form. A number of these changes were announced during the Treasurer’s budget speech on 11 May 2004, leaving software developers very little time to update and release their 2004 versions.

HandiSoft has the capabilities to thoroughly and efficiently review and test its software before releasing updates, ensuring the software that is released is of a high standard.

Alan Osrin, Managing Director of HandiSoft Software Pty Ltd, said that upgrades to HandiTax are HandiSoft’s top priority when June arrives each year. “It is imperative that we respond to the ATO changes as rapidly as possible. Employees are already handing in PAYG payment summaries to their accountants to lodge tax returns. Being first off the blocks means HandiTax users were the first to start processing client returns and generating refunds.”

The new releases contain a wide range of updated features aimed to help accountants process more quickly and accurately. HandiTax 2004 contains all major tax forms and includes a fully updated Error Navigator, which makes it even easier for accountants to correct errors prior to lodging by allowing them to click directly through to the error item. As in previous versions accountants can view a rolling tax estimate as they enter figures and, with one click, they can email copies of tax returns, financial statements or even invoices as PDF attachments to their clients.
