Alphawest appointed to the QLD Government Implementation Services Panel for EDRM and Web Content Management solutions

 • 23 May, 2006 14:23

Alphawest Services announced it has been selected by the Queensland Government as part of its Shared Service Initiative.

Alphawest has been appointed to a panel of vendors to provide a range of implementation services for the web content management (WCM) and electronic document and records management (EDRM) solutions that the Queensland Government is implementing for all of its agencies. It is a multi-year contract with an option for extension and the agencies will be implementing their solutions over the coming five years.

The Shared Service Initiative (SSI) has a vision of delivering high quality, cost-effective corporate services across the Queensland Government. This will be achieved through economies of scale and skill, and is underpinned by standardising business processes, consolidating technology, and pooling resources and expertise across Government. Once fully implemented, the SSI will result in substantial savings – as much as $100 million per year. This will free up resources previously expended on corporate service delivery that can be redirected to Government priorities and direct service delivery to the community.

Tim Dunn, Director in the Queensland Government’s Shared Services Initiative Office said, “Our challenge is to make available a new Information Management solution for all government agencies over a reasonably short timeframe, and satisfy key business initiatives of the shared services programme as well as regulatory compliance needs.”

Garry Henley, CEO, Alphawest said, “This is an important contract for Alphawest and provides a very strong growth opportunity for our operations in Queensland. There are a number of factors which gave Alphawest the edge including our flexible commercial models for clients alongside the experience we have in Queensland implementing the Government’s chosen solutions. We have more than 50 Information Management consultants available to work on these projects. We are also able to access our partners’ capability – Deloitte Consulting and Deloitte Eclipse. A key feature of our approach to working with Government agencies is our ‘Coaching for Success’ approach to transfer skills and expertise to the government agencies. This approach was specifically designed for the Queensland Government EDRMS programme.

Alphawest’s expertise will assist the Queensland Government to rapidly and successfully take up the Information Management solutions, which in turn will lead to an early realisation of the key benefits of the Shared Service Initiative.
