Ricoh strengthens its range of small but powerful wide zoom digital cameras with the release of the Caplio R40. The new camera is the fourth wide zoom model to be released by Ricoh in six months and reinforces its position as a leader of high speed, flexible zoom digital photography.

Offering high performance features and exceptional value for money, the Caplio R40 is ready to tackle any photographic challenge. Shooting 6.0-megapixel photos, it captures detailed images and produces high quality prints.

A 5.7x optical zoom lens equips the Caplio R40 with a zoom of 28mm to 160mm. A 1cm macro mode adds to the Caplio R40’s flexible lens power, which despite its capacity, remains housed in a 26mm slimline body.

Adding to the digital experience is the Caplio R40’s outstanding LCD display screen. The 2.5 inch high-resolution screen boasts a bright 153,000 pixels, providing optimum image clarity in strong light conditions. It also enables the user to view histogram information for quick analysis of exposure accuracy prior to shooting.

Following Ricoh’s high-speed tradition, the Caplio R40 focuses and shoots in a mere 0.09 of a second and has a multipoint focus system to confirm pre-shooting focus accuracy. Coupled with an angle correction mode to straighten skewed images, the Caplio R40 is capable of delivering a professional result even for the first-time user.

Like all Ricoh digital cameras in the Caplio R series, the R40 shoots continuous AVI video, is PictBridge enabled and includes a long lasting rechargeable battery that can take up to 330 standard shots per charge.

The Caplio R40 comes in a black or champagne metal finish and will be available nationally from June. RRP: $499 inc GST

Ricoh photographic products are sold through more than 1,500 outlets nationally, including leading camera specialists and electronics retailers.
