AUSTRALIA, Sydney – 19 June 2006 – Symantec Corp. has been named the 2006 Enterprise Security Vendor of the Year by global growth consulting company Frost & Sullivan. The award which was conferred at the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards recognises Symantec’s leadership in enterprise security solutions throughout the region for base year 2005.

“This award validates our ongoing commitment to providing enterprise customers with industry-leading protection from constantly evolving security threats,” said Bill Robbins, senior vice president, Asia Pacific & Japan Geography.

“Symantec has executed a well-defined strategy across the region, realising our aims to develop and provide solutions that ensure the availability and security of the applications, systems and networks upon which our customers depend. It is a tremendous acknowledgement of the valuable efforts invested by the Symantec team to return great results for our customers.”

Frost & Sullivan presents awards to companies that demonstrate best practices in their industry, recognising the diligence, commitment and innovative business strategies required to advance in the global marketplace. Symantec was selected to receive this award based on the following criteria: market presence; breadth of products and solutions; revenue growth; market share and growth in market share; as well as significant customer wins during the year.

To benchmark the nominees and determine the award recipients, Frost & Sullivan analysts conducted detailed research and assessment on the market performance of short-listed contenders in each category. An independent panel of judges deliberated these findings to decide on the award recipients. This year, 27 awards within three main categories of enterprise, and telecommunications vendor and services were presented.

“With the growing concerns and awareness in information integrity and security, Symantec has demonstrated its ability to align its solutions to the business and risk management needs of enterprises, and position itself as a vendor that can ensure the security and availability of critical information assets. Powered by a slew of strategic acquisitions, it consistently leads in providing a comprehensive portfolio of security solutions which has made it a security vendor of choice amongst CIOs,” said Jay Tan, industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific.

“Symantec is clearly the partner of choice to help enterprises build a trusted environment, one free of risks to security, availability, compliance and performance. We continue to bring to market industry-leading solutions and services that protect the infrastructure, information and interactions,” continued Robbins.
