Symantec i3 Application Performance Management Solution Earns SAP Certification for Its Integration with SAP® Solutions

 • 24 August, 2006 11:42

SAP Certification Validates Symantec’s Capabilities to Use SAP NetWeaver as Integration Platform

AUSTRAILA, Sydney – 24 August 2006 – Symantec Corp. today announced that its Symantec i3 application performance management solution has achieved certification from SAP for integration with the ABAP™ Stack of the SAP® R/3® Release 4.6c solution as well as SAP R/3 Enterprise Release 4.7 based on NetWeaver® Application Server Release 6.20. The ABAP certification is granted to companies whose solution has undergone rigorous testing and assessment of the installation of the ABAP code to determine optimal integration with existing ABAP-based SAP solutions.

The certified integration of Symantec i3 allows SAP customers to lower integration costs by using one common platform, SAP NetWeaver.

“The SAP NetWeaver platform is widely deployed in enterprises across the globe and offers SAP customers a central integration and application platform for SAP solutions, delivering high-value business operations such as finance, manufacturing and HR functions within organisations as well as non-SAP solutions, like Symantec i3,” said Henri Isenberg, vice president, server foundation and APM product group, Symantec Corp. “Symantec i3’s end-to-end application performance management technology provides customers using SAP NetWeaver with a solution for optimising performance in business-critical environments built on SAP ABAP technology.”

Symantec i3 itself provides a comprehensive set of end-to-end performance management tools that allow IT managers to proactively monitor, analyse, and fine-tune their applications to drive improved application performance and availability.

“End-to-end performance management is an essential requirement to expand visibility and increase usability across business critical application environments such as those running SAP solutions,” said Richard L. Ptak, a principal analyst with Ptak, Noel and Associates. “Symantec i3 provides the comprehensive, end-to-end performance management capabilities necessary to detect, diagnose, and correct performance challenges in today’s multi-tier application environments.”

Unique to Symantec i3 is its centralised performance warehouse, a database which continuously captures and stores performance metrics across the entire application transaction path to help customers efficiently identify performance degradation sources. The performance warehouse correlates this data to identify the tier consuming the most resources and leverages the information to diagnose the root cause of performance bottlenecks. Alerts and customised reports help organisations proactively correct performance problems to help reduce complexity and improve business productivity. This approach enables application owners to view the performance and availability of their business applications on one screen.

Symantec i3 is a critical component of Symantec Data Center Foundation, an integrated family of data protection, storage management, server management, and application performance management solutions. The Symantec Data Center Foundation is the only solution that enables enterprises to standardise on a single layer of infrastructure software across their entire data center that reduces IT complexity, protects information and applications, improves manageability and control of cross-platform storage and server assets, and drives down operational cost.

Symantec also provides comprehensive archiving, data protection, high availability/disaster recovery, clustering and provisioning solutions for environments running SAP solutions. Symantec also holds SAP certification for Veritas NetBackup, the leading data protection solution for UNIX, Linux and NetWare enterprise environments.

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
