NetComm SHDSL Modem Router Delivers High Performance Data Communications for SMEs

 • 28 August, 2006 15:38

NetComm, a leading provider of broadband, Internet and communications products, has launched the NB714 – a powerful Symmetrical High-bit rate Digital Subscriber Line (SHDSL) Modem Router. It can operate in 2-wire or 4-wire mode to deliver performance and versatility.

“This model can operate in 2-wire or 4-wire configuration and provides more options for small and medium business. It enables the business to leverage the latest broadband technology to meet the growing need for high performance data communication,” said David Stewart, Managing Director, NetComm. “With the same speed downstream and upstream, the NB714 is an ideal broadband solution for the demanding business.”

The NB714 can provide data rates from 64kbps to 2.304Mbps (2-wire) or 128kbps to 4.608Mbps (4-wire). SHDSL is a business-grade broadband solution with the same speed downstream and upstream. It is similar to ADSL in that it is delivered over a standard twisted-pair (2-wire) copper telephone cable or over two twisted-pair telephone lines (4-wire). It is an economical alternative to expensive leased line (Frame Relay or ISDN) services.

With the NB714, a business is able to host its own website and upload information to the web quickly when people on the Internet are connected to the web server downloading files.

The rapid speed both ways also makes video conferencing feasible because both directions have the same level of dedicated bandwidth with very high picture and sound quality. In addition, the NB714 is an ideal choice for VoIP (Voice over IP). The high downstream and upstream speed ensures sufficient bandwidth for excellent quality VoIP. This is a significant cost saving.

Security is also a key feature of the NB714. It has an advanced Firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Denial of Service (DoS) protection to protect the business against possible hackers and other intruders.

The NB714 Modem Router is available now from computer resellers at a recommended retail price of $699 (inc. GST). Product enquiries can be made to NetComm on (02) 9424 2070 or
