Polycom appoints communications veteran David Phillips to SVP worldwide sales

 • 25 July, 2006 09:23

Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM) the world’s leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, today announced the appointment of David R. Phillips to the position of senior vice president of Worldwide Sales reporting to Polycom chairman and CEO Bob Hagerty. A veteran communications executive with over twenty years of senior sales and operations management experience, Phillips takes over from Kim Niederman, who held the position for the past three and a half years during a time of impressive growth and expansion for Polycom. Phillips will lead Polycom’s industry-leading collaborative communications high touch sales force and channel partners who provide voice, video and collaboration solutions and services to the Global 2000.

Phillips, who will be based in Polycom’s Pleasanton, California headquarters, is the former COO of ACS Dataline, Inc., a premier provider of customised managed services in the areas of voice over IP, wireless, and security communications infrastructure. He has spent the majority of his career in senior sales management positions with Lucent/Avaya, AT&T, and a division of Plessey in the UK that was later acquired by Siemens. Common to all positions is a proven ability to significantly grow revenue and profitability. As vice president of Worldwide Sales for the Connectivity Solutions division of Lucent/Avaya from 1999 to 2001, for instance, he grew annual revenues by 35 percent in two years. As regional vice president of AT&T’s enterprise business in Europe from 1990 to 1996, he tripled revenues and became a member of the AT&T Leaders Council. Phillips holds a B.A. in Business Studies from Bristol Polytechnic in the U.K.

“We are delighted to welcome David to Polycom’s executive management team,” said Bob Hagerty. “He is a global sales manager with deep collaborative communications knowledge and strong accomplishments in managing sales and growing revenues. His ability to create and motivate great teams dedicated to customers and channel partners will continue to build on Polycom’s strong market momentum.”

“I want to personally thank Kim Niederman for his leadership over the past three and a half years
and look forward to working with Kim in an advisory capacity during the third quarter,” continued Hagerty. “During his Polycom tenure, Kim reorganised our sales force to a high touch model, implemented an improved channel strategy, and created a specialised global accounts program; improving linearity and significantly growing revenues.”

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
