Polycom extends presence in Asia Pacific region with new Singapore headquarters in 2007

 • 27 July, 2006 09:23

In order to support growing demand for the company’s collaborative communications solutions in the region, Polycom, Inc. today announced the selection of Singapore as its new Asia Pacific headquarters in 2007. The move will centralise administrative functions such as finance, legal, order management, IT and HR operations formerly located in Hong Kong with the distribution, manufacturing, training and services lab already in Singapore. It is the latest extension by Polycom in its fastest growing region. Recent commitments to the region include the creation of a new engineering lab in Shenzhen, a new distribution centre in Australia, and a new quality lab in Japan. Existing sales, services, and engineering for the region will remain in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shenzhen.

Singapore was selected for its central location and is well–situated between rapidly developing markets such as China and India, and established markets such as Japan, Korea and Australia. Singapore offers beneficial corporate incentives as well as one of the best developed IP infrastructures in the world.

According to EIU 2005, Singapore was voted the best business environment in Asia Pacific and the best place to live and work in Asia. The Singapore government has stated its intent to be world’s most wired city by 2015. Polycom will be able to leverage the country’s strong talent pool and communications infrastructure, which delivers broadband networks to 99 percent of the domestic population and connection rates of 27.6 Tbps to more than 100 other countries. Singapore is truly a gateway to Asia for visitors from the U.S., Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“Polycom sales in the region increased 17% year over year from Q2 2005 to Q2 2006,” said Hansjoerg Wagner, newly appointed Managing Director and Vice President of Sales for Polycom in the Asia Pacific region. “Singapore is the ideal stage for Polycom to market converged voice, video and content over IP solutions to the region. The collaborative applications we deliver for justice, education and medicine are synergistic with the Singapore government’s globally recognised achievements in these fields. Singapore leads the world in IP infrastructure deployments and offers a safe, pro-business environment that protects a company’s physical and Intellectual Property investments. “
