Simms International partners with Olympus Imaging to build corporate market for xD memory card range

 • 04 October, 2006 08:18

Specialist supplier of IT components and accessories Simms International has been appointed by Olympus Imaging Australia to build a corporate market for its xD picture memory card family.

Simms will leverage its combined expertise in both the corporate reseller and memory markets to proactively create opportunities for the xD range, Simms International Managing Director Danny Moore said.

“Simms’ reputation has been built on partnering with pre-eminent vendors like Olympus to develop markets for quality products. The strength and breadth of our relationships in the corporate reseller market will enable us to broaden the market for the Olympus xD lineup and deliver new sales opportunities to our resellers,” Mr Moore said.

“As a memory specialist, Simms also has the product knowledge to provide corporate resellers with a wide range of specialist support services, including technical, sales and product management, as we create a brand presence in the corporate market for the xD range.”

Olympus Imaging’s choice of partner was based on Simms’ corporate reseller strengths, according to Olympus Imaging Australia Product Manager Austin Kazami.

“The xD range has had great success in the consumer market. We now want to build on that by taking it into the corporate arena. With Simms as our partner, our xD cards will gain a much wider distribution as we take its unique features such as the Panorama, 3D and art effect functions to a new corporate audience,” Mr Kazami said.

The Olympus xD Picture Card features very large capacities in one of the smallest memory formats available today. It features rapid data transfer speeds, is ultra-compact and fully compatible with all xD picture card devices.

Olympus is currently the most successful xD card manufacturer in the Australian market, boasting a 67% market share in the xD category, which independently occupies over 13% of the digital media space. (GfK Research, June 2006).

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
