New Snap Server Network Storage Systems Make High Performance, Cost-Effective Capacity and Enterprise-Class Software Features Available to Small/Medium Businesses and Remote Offices

Sydney, Australia – October 5, 2006 - Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), a global leader in storage solutions, today introduced three new network storage systems, the Snap Server 110, 210 and 410, that provide cost-effective capacity from 160GB to 2 TB in compact desktop or rack mount formats and leverage the powerful GuardianOS™ operating system -- the same software platform that runs on the midrange Snap Server product line. Extremely easy to set up and maintain, these systems are designed for use in situations with minimal or no IT resources, making them ideal solutions for small/medium businesses (SMBs) and remote or branch offices. The Snap Server 110, 210 and 410 are also the first offerings priced between A$999 and A$5,000 to offer unified block (via. iSCSI) and file support, as well as optional enterprise-class applications for data replication, disk-to-disk backup and disaster recovery.

The Snap Server 110, 210 and 410 deliver exceptional performance as measured by VeriTest™, the testing service of Lionbridge, which reported that these solutions outperformed competitive offerings by up to 62 percent1. Combined with the midrange Snap Server product line or used on a standalone basis, the Snap Server 110, 210 and 410 allow companies to quickly deploy a centrally managed network storage solution that distributes enterprise-class data management and protection services throughout an organisation.

The Snap Server 110 and 210 are compact desktop storage systems that offer single and dual drives respectively and a single gigabit network interface. The Snap Server 210 also provides RAID 0 and 1 data protection. The Snap Server 410 is a rack mount model with four disk drives and two gigabit network interfaces. In addition to RAID 1 and 0, the Snap Server 410 also supports RAID 5.

"Unlike companies that are just now paying attention to the needs of the SMB customer, Adaptec with its Snap Server line has always been focused on this market, delivering value-added storage solutions for SMBs and remote offices that provide the capacity, level of protection and ease-of-use they need -- at a price that fits within their budgets," said Demetri Christodoulou, Regional Manager for ANZ and South Asia at Adaptec. "Our desktop storage solutions have consistently been some of the most popular network storage systems available. Now with the Snap Server 110, 210 and 410, the entire Snap Server product line is based on our award-winning GuardianOS operating system, providing a common platform for managing, moving and protecting multiple data types across the distributed enterprise."
