WA's Optimiser Selected As Finalist In 2006 Australian ICT Innovation Competition

<p>Digital Management Innovator Recognised As eCommerce Groundbreaker</p>
<p>Optimiser - Perth-based developer of patented Digital Management solutions for controlling digital product and content services - is one of only three Western Australian companies chosen as a National 2006 Innovation Finalist in the Secrets of Australian ICT Innovation Competition. Nominated in the Commerce category, Optimiser's groundbreaking solution is a Web-based Digital Management (DM) service for the controlled distribution, in-the-field management and unique point-of-use billing of software and content.</p>
<p>The annual Secrets competition, now in its fifth year, is a major industry initiative for presenting the country's best ICT innovations to a global audience. Sponsored by Cisco Systems, DELL and CentricMinds as well as Australian and state Governments, winners stand to share $105,000 of prizes that will assist companies showcase their inventions, and Australia as an innovative nation, both here and overseas.</p>
<p>"This year, the judges noted that the quality of applications and innovations have improved over past years," said Allan Booth, Competition Director at the Department of Communications, IT and the Arts (DCITA). "Previous winners of the Secrets competition have successfully showcased their innovations at events in the USA, UK and Asia Pacific region. We wish this year's short-listed companies every success and thank our sponsors for their continuing support."</p>
<p>Optimiser's short-listing success follows its selection as a 2004 Innovation Finalist in the Western Australia Information Technology &amp; Telecommunications Awards (WAITTA); a showcase presenter at the ANZA Technology Conference in Palo Alto four years running; and its successful gaining of Malaysia's Multimedia Super Corridor MSC-status. The company's approach to Digital Management, which enables time, data and function-based Software as a Service (SaaS) and Pay-As-You-Use (PAYU) software and content sales, has been cited as "unique and original" by British Telecom Exact.</p>

<p>Optimiser, founded in 1996, is the creator of a unique, patented Web service for managing and billing digital product and content sales and purchases in real-time. The service provides metadata for accounting, to both vendors and buyers of digital assets so they can manage their sales and purchase investments. It uniquely combines Digital Rights Management (DRM), Digital Asset Management (DAM), Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and Business Intelligence reporting for the modern digital business.</p>
<p>Assessed by BT Exact as having a "unique and original" approach, Optimiser is a 2006 Innovation Finalist in the Secrets of Australian IT Innovation Competition; an Innovation Finalist in the Western Australia Information Technology &amp; Telecommunications Awards (WAITTA); a Top 25 Finalist in Austrade's 2001 Silicon Valley High-Tech Tour; a four-time showcase presenter at the ANZA Technology Showcase Conference in Palo Alto; and a Malaysian Multimedia Super Corridor MSC-status company.</p>
<p>The Secrets of Australian ICT Innovation Competition is an initiative of the Committee Marketing ICT for Australia (CoMICTA), a committee with members drawn from the Australian Government, state and territory Governments, industry associations and research bodies.
