Next-Generation Web solution to help companies deliver unique content regardless of device

AUSTRALIA, Sydney — 1 November 2006 — Vignette (NASDAQ: VIGN) today announced an expanded relationship with Sun Microsystems to further leverage Vignette's Next-Generation Web solutions. The alliance, utilising Sun hardware and software products, will provide content management and delivery technologies aimed at the telco, media and entertainment industries.

Consumers searching for engaging content are increasingly turning to video-on-demand, mobile applications, IPTV and other Internet-enabled channels. To attract and retain these consumers, media and telco organisations must adapt to the realities of new media, channel proliferation and device divergence. Vignette’s Next-Generation Web solution provides the foundation for these companies to collect, manage, deliver and monetise this rich digital content regardless of the destination device.

The Vignette and Sun solution combines Vignette’s unique content management and presentation capabilities with the power and scalability of Sun Fire™ servers running the Solaris™ 10 Operating System and Identity Management system to provide a single and unified model for controlling and delivering all forms of digital objects, media content, services and applications on multiple platforms to multiple devices such as phones, set-top-boxes, IP television and PDA’s.

"Vignette’s Next-Generation Web solutions enable some of the world’s leading telco, media and entertainment companies to provide differentiated services to their customers,” said Kent Lockyer, senior director - Solutions, Global Communications Industry at Sun Microsystems. "This expanded relationship allows Sun and Vignette to address some of the biggest concerns in the industry today; how to roll-out new content and services to customers and increase revenue per user while keeping operational and maintenance costs at a minimum."

“Through the Sun(SM) Partner Connect Program, Vignette and Sun sales will address the needs of the converged telco, media and entertainment industries,” said Larry Warnock, chief marketing officer at Vignette. “This is an important step for Vignette as we continue to bring world-class solutions to market that help organizations manage and deliver rich multimedia content to a growing number of devices and applications.”

Vignette’s Next-Generation Web solutions are available today on the Solaris™ 9 and Solaris 10 Operating Systems on the UltraSPARC™ processor-based platform, with planned availability on Solaris 10 on the Sun x64 (x86, 64-bit) platform in the first half of 2007.
