Tarkan Maner Named President and CEO of Wyse Technology

 • 08 February, 2007 16:20

SAN JOSE, Calif. – 02/05/2007 - Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced the appointment of Tarkan Maner to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, as the company aligns itself for its next stage of market growth. The appointment is effective immediately, and will also include Maner joining the board of directors of Wyse. Maner replaces John Kish, who has left the firm to pursue other opportunities.

“This appointment reflects the significant leadership role Tarkan has played in Wyse’s rapid progress in the thin computing market, against our business objectives,” said Terry Garnett, Wyse’s Chairman. “In the past 18 months, Wyse has redefined the thin client market, with a new software-driven thin computing vision, products and partnerships designed to solve our customers’ “fat” PC-driven business challenges, and enhanced strategies for extending global leadership. I’d also like to thank John Kish for his years of service and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Mr. Maner, 37, joined Wyse in May, 2005, as the Chief Marketing Officer. He was most recently President, Worldwide Field Operations for Wyse, and led Wyse’s global sales, marketing, channels, business development and customer service organizations and programs. Prior to joining Wyse, Mr. Maner led marketing, product management, business development, and strategic business alliance initiatives at Computer Associates, where he was instrumental in developing the company's corporate vision, strategy, and brand. Earlier, at IBM, Mr. Maner led global product marketing initiatives for the company's Internet Security, Network Computing, and eCommerce divisions.

Mr. Maner graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a B.S. degree in Engineering Management, received his MBA degree from Midwestern State University, and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

“We are very excited about Wyse’s growth opportunities in 2007 and beyond. Enterprises and consumers are looking for more advanced, secure and inexpensive ‘thin’ computing devices instead of the unmanageable, expensive, unsafe and ‘fat’ desktop computer options. Major Fortune 500 companies are already moving to thin clients and thin computing. Beyond the ‘thin’, the next phase in desktop computing will be the flashless, diskless and OS-free computing, delivering full user experience without any cost, management and security compromise. We have an expert channel partner eco-system, a complete software and hardware solution base, and most importantly the best people in the business to deliver the best customer experience for growth in the thin computing market,” said Tarkan Maner.

About Wyse Technology

Wyse Technology is the global leader in thin computing. Wyse and its partners deliver the hardware, infrastructure software, and services that comprise thin computing, allowing people to access the information they need using the applications they want, but with better security, manageability, and at a much lower total cost of ownership than a PC. Thin computing allows CIOs and senior IT professionals to reduce costs, manage risk, and deliver access to information. Wyse partners closely with industry leaders Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, and others to achieve this objective. Wyse is headquartered in San Jose, California, with offices worldwide.
