Payam touts transparent clean room

Looking to introduce transparency into the data recovery process, Payam Data Recovery (PDR) has opened what it claims to be the country's first clean room with a public viewing area. PDR managing director, Payam Toloo, argued there was a lot of misinformation in the data recovery industry. The new facility was a challenge to its rivals to either put up or shut up.

"I've heard claims, for example, that we send our work to other data recovery businesses, which is kind of insulting," he said.

The clean room, which is part of the company's all-new 250sqm North Sydney office, would allow customers to come into the office and see their hard drive being worked on in front of them, Toloo said.

"Some people might want to just come in and see how we do things," he said. "Others, such as intelligence organisations or police departments, might want to keep their eye on a hard drive at all times.

"This has been an expensive exercise to get set-up but it means we can now show what we do - people can now see it," he said. "This is becoming a very competitive industry." Toloo said that PDR was also interested in resellers referring work for a commission fee. While unwilling to publish its commission rate, he said resellers could earn from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars per month, depending on the size of jobs being referred.
