Paymate Sends Online Scammers Packing with TrustMark Online Seller Assessment Program

 • 25 May, 2007 14:31

Paymate (www.paymate.com.au), an Australian provider of Internet payment services, has today announced the expansion of their TrustMark seller assessment program.

Paymate allows any Australian to safely accept payments via credit card, in Australian dollars or several foreign currencies, without the need for separate bank merchant facilities or a gateway service.

TrustMark is an innovative Australian assessment service, which actively monitors online payment histories, and combines this information with information provided by buyers. Businesses wishing to take part in the TrustMark program must meet strict criteria, and are able to promote their products and services using the TrustMark logo. Sellers are also protected from fraudulent credit card usage by Paymate’s transactional risk assessment system.

Dilip Rao, Managing Director for Paymate commented, “When you buy something online, you want to be certain that you won’t be scammed, and that the item will actually arrive. Instead of relying just on feedback from buyers, which can often be faked, Paymate has developed TrustMark, a unique risk monitoring program that independently measures an online business based on their actual transactions, and whether items have been successfully received by their customers.”

Initially deployed on an invitation only basis to 1,000 online businesses, the TrustMark program is now being expanded, with an additional 5,000 businesses expected to take up the service within the next 12 months.

Dilip Rao continued, “Paymate makes it easy for anybody to safely purchase products online. Only the most trustworthy online businesses are able to qualify for Paymate’s TrustMark service, and display the TrustMark logo.”

To qualify to join the TrustMark program, online sellers must have a proven record of delivering goods which have been paid for via Paymate, as well as meeting strict risk profiling criteria.

The risk profiling methodology used by Paymate has been proven by a two-year trial period, and is the most sophisticated online transaction risk assessment service offered in Australia.
