Symantec Asia Pacific Appoints Financial Services Specialists

<p>Symantec is focusing becoming a key partner to the financial services industry across Asia Pacific and Japan, and to lead its push into the industry has appointed two highly experienced senior industry specialists - Paul Kastner, Director, Financial Services, and Andrew Yu, Chief Technologist, Financial Services - to lead the team.</p>
<p>The financial services team will focus on understanding key business issues facing the industry and shape comprehensive solutions to those issues.</p>
<p>We are pleased to announce the appointment of the following as leaders of Symantec’s new financial services team.</p>
<p>Based in Sydney, Paul Kastner is Director, Financial Services, for Symantec in the Asia Pacific and Japan region. Mr. Kastner is charged with initiating and driving Symantec’s financial services business development and sales execution. Mr. Kastner has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services and IT industries, successfully delivering major benefits to financial services businesses by leading change in areas including customer management, products, distribution, operations, risk management, IT systems and infrastructure. He has a proven track record in developing new markets and has worked extensively in Asia, Australia, the USA, and the Middle East.
Mr. Kastner joined Symantec from EMC where he was client solutions director in Australia and New Zealand. Previously he was Partner at PA Consulting Group where he headed the financial services consulting practice across APJ. Mr. Kastner has also been Director of Financial Services for Ernst &amp; Young , CIO for Saudi Cairo Bank, and Senior Manager for Price Waterhouse.</p>
<p>Andrew Yu is Chief Technologist, Financial Services, for Symantec in the Asia Pacific and Japan region, charged with directing the technical infrastructure of financial services solutions. Mr. Yu has more than 12 years’ experience in the financial services and IT industries. He has actively participated in the evolution of technology in the securities trading business and has successfully worked to restructure business units to achieve significant business benefits in areas including high service availability, business continuity, and data security.
Mr. Yu joined Symantec from IT Channel Asia where he was the director of infrastructure services, managing major accounts in the financial services industry. Prior to that he was global head of infrastructure for CLSA, a global investment bank headquartered in Hong Kong, responsible for planning and implementing technology strategy for 15 offices. He was previously vice president and manager of regional UNIX engineering and operation group at Morgan Stanley.</p>
