ENERMAX is Leaving its Competitors Out in the Rain

 • 20 June, 2007 16:46

Sydney, June 20 2007.

ENERMAX is leaving its competitors out in the rain, AMD certifies Enermax DXX series with the release of the HD2900XT graphic cards.

On May 14th AMD launched the HD2900XT graphic cards, utilising the industry-leading graphics processing platform chip R600. To meet its power requirements to scale unseen graphic performance, it needs a new 8-pin PCIe 2.0 power connector besides the traditional PCIe 1.0 6p PEG power connector.

AMD generally certified power supplies with certain levels for powering HD2900XT from 550W onwards in single, and 750W in dual mode (CrossFire), if respective connector requirements are met. Certain higher quality PSUs are being certified with lower wattages. ENERMAX is the leader by far:

Steven Su, founder & CEO of ENERMAX, explains what distinguishes ENERMAX from all others:

“We not just got certified with one or two new models. Our complete line-up from 400 to 1000W got certified, as we finished our complete overhaul as part of our “DXX-ready” campaign already on January 17th and for some selected series we did that already in December ‘06. That was possible thanks to our quality and PCB design, which were made for long-term needs and rated more than just conservatively, which makes us already an iconic exception among our more optimistically rating competitors.

To prove this, our LIBERTY DXX 400W model got certified as the smallest PSU by far. Extraordinary is not just this, but even more: It is a more than one and a half years old design and still leading its class, by strongest rails, highest power density, most drives and a dozen records more and which make it the best selling modular PSU series in the world.

Especially important to our customers is that they can even upgrade their old LIBERTY into LIBERTY DXX by simply purchasing a 6+2p (8p) PEG spare cable to replace one 6p PEG cable. This will cost them 3 of the 18 drives maximum support, but enables them to power a single HD2900XT without needing to buy a new PSU at all. Certified by AMD. That’s why ENERMAX is leading!”

“DXX ready” PSUs and spare cables are available at ENERMAX global subsidiaries. Just look out for the badge below to know your powersupply is DXX ready.

* EMC009 is designed for INFINITI series

What is “DXX ready” / PCI Express 2.0?

PCI Express 2.0 was announced on January 15th by the PCI-SIG, an industry group of currently more than 850 companies like AMD, Broadcom, HP, IBM, Intel, LSI Logic, Microsoft and nVIDIA. It defines the standards for the next generation of motherboards and graphic cards, commonly dubbed as DirectX 10 capable. This new architecture effectively boosts their performance and utilization compared to their DirectX 9 / PCIe 1.0 predecessors enormously and requires a new 8p connector.
