Quantum Unveils its New Vision, Channel Strategy and Plans for Expansion in Australia

<p>Sydney, Australia – 10 June, 2007 – Quantum Corporation, a global leader in storage, today announced its new sales model and the expansion of its sales team with four new appointments across Australia.</p>
<p>Craig Tamlin, country manager, Quantum Australia and New Zealand said, “Quantum Asia-Pacific has experienced substantial growth over the past four years due to the expanding market for backup, recovery, and archive. It’s critical we have a solid structure in place that allows us to continue to meet our customers’ storage and data management needs. The people we have appointed reflect our dedication and focus toward driving channel business and providing our partners and customers with the best value-added service and support possible.</p>
<p>“Quantum is bringing on a direct touch sales force to fuel new reseller opportunities. In the past we focused on a channel push model with different programs to help the channel excel. Now we want to include a pull model where we will canvas opportunities with end-users before transacting them through the channel.</p>
<p>“At the end of the day, our existing channel model will remain and our partners will continue to sell our volume-based products like always. But now, rather than waiting for resellers to bring in all the big deals, we'll be knocking on doors, too!” he added.</p>
<p>**In Melbourne, Bruce Coulthard has joined as a Systems Engineer.
Bruce most recently worked for one of Quantum’s Premier Partners, Commander, for two years and has previously had roles at a smaller integrator, then at a number of Quantum customers including Cadbury and National Australia Bank. “Bruce brings with him real world customer experience as a user of Quantum products and great technical skills to support our local customer set” said Craig Tamlin, country manager, Quantum A&amp;NZ. Bruce has certifications in NetBackup, and EMC storage, and strong experience with networking, SAN, and backup and recovery hardware and software.</p>
<p>**In Sydney, Savvas Xexenis has joined as an Enterprise Account Manager.
Savvas has spent a large proportion of his career at Dec/Compaq/HP in a variety of sales roles - direct and in the channel working predominantly in the provision of storage and infrastructure solutions to key accounts such as; Bridgestone Tyres, Macquarie University, EDS, Alcatel and Sanitarium. Prior to that, Savvas was working for reseller, Harris Technology.</p>
<p>**In Melbourne, Shane Lyell has joined as an Enterprise Account Manager.
Shane was previously a Technical Account Manager at one of Quantum’s Premier Partners, Commander, and prior, worked for three years at SMS consulting, most recently in the role of IT Manager. Shane held positions at GE, GlaxoSmithKline, ColesMyer, Australia Post, and IBM. “Shane's voice of experience, having been a customer and user of infrastructure solutions positions him well to relate strongly to Quantum's customer base” said Craig Tamlin, country manager, Quantum A&amp;NZ.</p>
<p>**In Canberra, Steve Mead has joined as an Enterprise Account Manager.
Steve has been in the IT industry for over 30 years, with in excess of 20 years dealing with backup and recovery as a business manager, consultant, and prior as a director of a large infrastructure solutions integrator. In his career he has sold all forms of storage hardware and software including EMC, HDS, NetApp, Quantum, Veritas and CA.</p>
