ANZ Secure Content Management Software Market Still Going Strong, Says IDC

 • 13 August, 2007 10:16

NORTH SYDNEY, 13th August 2007 – IDC's latest analysis of the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Secure Content Management (SCM) Market, finds that SCM will continue to experience strong growth. "Security issues such as bot-nets, zero-day attacks, image-based spam, spyware, rootkits and socially engineered phishing scams continue to evolve. The need for Web-security solutions and Information Protection Control solutions that help monitor and control sensitive information flowing both in and out of an organisation will contribute to the strong growth the ANZ SCM market," says Patrik Bihammar, senior market analyst, Security Solutions, IDC ANZ.

According to IDC's study, "Australia and New Zealand Secure Content Management Analysis, 2007" (Doc # AZ326202P), the ANZ SCM software market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.1% from US$208 million in 2006, to reach almost US$386 million in 2011. The IDC study provides insights into developments, trends, and challenges in the ANZ SCM software market.

"Computer viruses have been a significant security issue for over 20 years and, threats continue to evolve. It is not just the malware that has evolved over time; today attackers are increasingly driven by financial gain, rather than simply wreaking havoc by bringing down systems. The threat vectors have also expanded beyond email, to include instant messaging (IM), mobile, and Web-based threats. Consequently, SCM solutions constantly need to evolve and expand to protect against blended threats. Today, the border between SCM and threat management (TM) is blurring - both on the endpoint and on the network edge. Today's SCM suites provide broader functionality, including TM and even network admission control (NAC) capabilities. However, having strong and well integrated solutions is not enough. In order to be successful in this challenging and highly competitive market, vendors also need to establish strong partner and customer relationships as well as develop new and innovative business models" says Patrik Bihammar, senior market analyst, Security Solutions, IDC Australia.
