Toshiba integrates HD DVD drive and Intel Centrino Duo processor technology into Satellite series

<p>Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited Information Systems Division (ISD) today announced its latest range of Satellite consumer notebooks, featuring a high definition (HD) DVD optical drive and the latest Intel® Centrino® Duo processor technology for enhanced computing capabilities in the home . As part of the announcement, Toshiba has introduced two new additions to the Satellite family, the Satellite X200, an extreme gaming powerhouse, and the Satellite U300, an ultra-portable multimedia notebook.</p>
<p>“By integrating HD DVD drives and dual core processors into our Satellite series, Toshiba is again one step ahead of its competitors to offer consumers the best in mobile computing for the home,” said Mark Whittard, general manager, Toshiba ISD. “Users now have the ability to enjoy all of the unique high definition multimedia features that HD DVD technology provides, and with Intel’s latest Centrino processor, our notebooks provide greater wireless connectivity, performance and battery life.”</p>
<p>The Satellite X200 is designed specifically for extreme gamers, featuring a 17-inch diagonal widescreen, NVIDIA’s latest GeForce 8700M graphics card, 512MB of discrete graphics memory and an HD DVD-R drive for high definition gaming and movies on the go. The Satellite X200’s NVIDIA DirectX10 graphics processor takes full advantage of Microsoft Windows Vista™ to deliver enhanced visual effects like dynamic lighting and shading.</p>
<p>The graphics card, combined with the Satellite X200’s 17-inch widescreen display, produces realistic images so that gamers can view richly detailed environments and textures. The Satellite X200 incorporates the new Intel Turbo Memory Technology to reduce the time it takes to boot, launch applications and return from hibernation mode. The notebook also incorporates dual hard disk drives to provide gamers with a massive 320GB storage capacity.</p>
<p>The Satellite U300 is designed for on-the-go users, featuring a 13.3-inch widescreen display, webcam and sleek onyx blue and silver gloss metallic casing. Although small in size, the Satellite U300 features performance, speed and style. The Satellite U300 showcases Dolby® Sound Room™, which brings together a suite of technologies designed to provide stunning personal surround sound from two speakers or any pair of headphones.</p>
<p>Toshiba’s Satellite series offers consumers an extensive choice of notebooks, from entry-level desktop replacements through to high-end gaming powerhouses. The updated notebooks come pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home, Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate, and include the Satellite A200, M200, U300, P200 and X200.</p>
<p>The Satellite series is powered by the new the Intel Centrino Duo processor technology, which is made up of several high-end components, including the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor sequence, Mobile Intel® 965 chipset and new Intel® Wireless WiFi® Link 4965AGN supporting draft 802.11n wireless connectivity. The Intel microarchitecture provides users with greater connectivity options while enhancing graphics performance and boosting overall battery life .</p>
