Game your way to a better life

Online game launched to help youth develop life skills

A non-profit welfare group has launched a new simulation game designed to help teenagers cope with life issues.

Reachout! is a free online game designed to help young people improve and learn life skills.

Financially backed by Sony and run by the Inspire Foundation, the project was developed in close consultation with 80 Australian youth ambassadors between the ages of 16 and 25. The youth ambassadors were brought in to "keep it real and appealing" to young people.

The game currently features over 15 story lines and 10 characters, and a number of MP3 tunes. Success in the game depends on how well the players meet their own needs and the needs of the characters they mix with.

Each time a player logs in they will be asked what mood they are in, and their mood has the power to "change their game". They can lift their mood throughout the game by clicking on various hotspots.

The game also features an SMS service where players can be alerted about favourite topics or interviews and keep track of links on their profile pages.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
