Wyse Expands Thin Computing Infrastructure Management Strategy

Enterprises with PCs and Management Tools Can Now More Easily Adopt Thin Clients

Sydney, Australia – 25 October, 2007 - Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced that its products now support and integrate with leading third-party management tools including Citrix® Access Management Console, Altiris® Deployment Solution™, CA Unicenter®, IBM Tivoli® and Microsoft SMS® (Systems Management Server). By doing so, Wyse thin clients work seamlessly with a broad set of management tools allowing IT administrators to centrally monitor and control networked devices in the environment they are most comfortable with.

Moving forward, Wyse thin clients offer built-in support for Wyse Device Manager (WDM), Altiris Deployment Solution and Microsoft SMS. In addition, Wyse’s WDM management software now integrates with Citrix Access Management Console, CA Unicenter, and IBM Tivoli giving IT flexible management options when adding thin clients to an existing installation.

“By offering integration with our Citrix Access Management Console, Wyse is eliminating one of the few remaining barriers to broad thin client adoption,” said Chris Fleck, Vice President of Platform Development for Citrix. “Customers want a single pane of glass view to manage application delivery and user access control. Now they can also manage Wyse thin clients as secure access devices without the burden of additional device management consoles and training.”

This integration and support will simplify network management with software solutions that can easily scale up to hundreds of thousands of clients. These enhancements mean Wyse thin clients can be added in environments where one of the supported management strategies is already in place, and IT Administrators have even more flexibility when installing, configuring, or maintaining thin clients. In this way, IT administrators can minimise downtime and prevent loss of productivity.

"By giving users more choice and flexibility when deploying thin clients, Wyse is continuing to deliver more value," said Ashwin Kulkarni, Director of Product Management for Wyse Technology. "By adding software extensions for Citrix, CA and IBM to WDM, we now provide the most robust set of management tools in the industry. This tight integration and direct support gives users the ability to choose the software tools they want to manage all their networked devices."

WDM provides IT administrators with sophisticated asset tracking that provides information about each hardware device, including the software that is deployed on that device. By presenting up-to-date status information on a simple-to-use central console with remote diagnostic capabilities, the IT department can reduce desktop visits by their technicians. The compatibility with Citrix Access Management Console, CA Unicenter and IBM Tivoli gives IT administrators this power with far less training and education than is required with alternative solutions.

About Wyse Technology

Thin computing allows CIOs and senior IT professionals to reduce costs, manage risk, and deliver access to information. Wyse partners closely with industry leaders Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, and others to achieve this objective. Wyse is headquartered in San Jose, California, with offices worldwide and ANZ head office in North Sydney, NSW.
