SYDNEY, Australia — 11 October, 2007 — Citrix Systems, the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced the appointment of Bede Hackney to the role of Application Networking Group (ANG) Manager. Mr Hackney leaves Packeteer to lead one of the fastest growing business groups for Citrix Systems in the region.

In his previous role, Mr Hackney was Packeteer’s Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand. Mr Hackney joins Citrix with more than 15 years of experience in the IT industry.

“We are confident that Bede’s appointment in this newly created position will deliver tremendous value and expertise to our channel partners and customers. As more and more businesses seek to increase their competitive advantage by providing secure access anytime, anywhere for their employees, we continue to add business value for our customers by strengthening our application delivery offerings,” said Rob Willis, area Vice President for Citrix Australia and New Zealand.

Recent years have seen Citrix’s product capabilities grow from the traditional application delivery model to an expanded portfolio which provides end to end solutions for safe, secure, anywhere access including Access Gateway, NetScaler, WANScaler, EdgeSight and Application Firewall.

“Our planned acquisition of XenSource, virtualisation software vendor, is one such example of the significant investments we are making to enhance Citrix capabilities across the board,” said Mr Willis.

Prior to being appointed as Packeteer’s Country Manager for ANZ Mr Hackney also served as Packeteer’s Senior Systems Engineer, for which a US patent was filed in his name on behalf of Packeteer. Previously, Mr Hackney worked as a Senior Network Consultant at NetStar Networks Australia.

“Citrix enjoys a unique position in the market, solving the complete end-to-end application delivery challenge for companies of all sizes. We are also emerging as a leading player in sectors that have traditionally been dominated by point-solution vendors. In this way we are delivering market-leading products in the Application Front-End (AFE) and WAN Optimisation markets,” said Mr Hackney. “Our strategy is paying off; with our products gaining momentum in Australia and New Zealand, I’m very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for us, our partners and most importantly, our customers,” he added.
