Integrity Offers a Wireless Gateway for Every Market
- 09 September, 2003 13:48

Integrity Data Systems has released third generation wireless gateways from Bluesocket, specifically designed for medium-to-large organisations and for the first time, the small office.

With the release of Bluesocket WG-1100, and WG-2100 wireless gateways, Integrity Data Systems is offering a wireless LAN management and security solution that can handle a larger number of users on a new, more robust hardware platform, with a more functional and user-friendly software interface.

Operating on the 802.11b and high-throughput 802.11a/g wireless LANs, Bluesocket’s new wireless gateways offer increased processing power to provide more capacity to handle larger numbers of users compared to the previous units. The third generation wireless gateway units allow detailed management and control of resources across the wireless LAN, making management and security easy.

For businesses with up to 150 wireless LAN users, the Bluesocket WG-1100 offers open systems, enterprise-class wireless LAN solution to the administration, management, interoperability, quality of service (QoS) and security issues facing medium-to-large enterprises deploying wireless LAN technology.

Smaller IT departments can also improve efficiency of the wireless LAN using the WG-1100-SOE (Small Office Edition), the first of this facility available to smaller offices and workgroups with up to 20 users. Small businesses can now manage their wireless LANs with the same effectiveness as large organisations with much more resources.

The WG-2100 wireless gateway is primarily aimed at medium-to-large organisations that require robust wireless network systems. Designed for larger enterprises with up to 400 users, it operates on the 802.11b and high-throughput 802.11a/g access points. Featuring hardware-based encryption acceleration, the WG-2100 delivers encrypted data performance of 150Mbps (megabits per second) and as fast as 400 Mbps for unencrypted traffic, making it the industry’s fastest wireless gateway tool.

The major benefit of the WG-2100 arises through the units’ increased capacity to handle larger numbers of users, a solution used by large enterprises and universities. Bluesocket technology is already installed in numerous universities Australia-wide.

Integrity Data Systems CEO Ross Chiswell said Bluesocket had extended the family of products to better match the size of each individual site or network. “The increase in wireless LAN deployments is what’s really driving a need for wireless gateways in every market.
“Businesses are requiring wireless solutions capable of handling from one user to hundreds of users, which opens a whole range of opportunities for wireless access,” he said.

The WG-1100-SOE wireless gateway for the small office retails for $7,200 (including GST). The WG-1100 for medium-to-large enterprises retails for $12,160 (including GST) and the WG-2100 for the larger enterprise retailing for $25,990 (including GST).
