Canon announces the i560 Bubble Jet as successor to Australia’s most popular mid-range printer, the i550 Bubble Jet

An all-round affordable, high-performing Bubble Jet Printer and the first to incorporate PictBridge direct print technology

SYDNEY, 21 August 2003 – Canon Australia today announced the i560 Bubble Jet printer as successor to the popular i550 model. Incorporating the same outstanding technology as the higher specified i850 Bubble Jet printer, this new printer is both a high performer and extremely affordable to purchase and run thanks to the inclusion of Canon’s unique Individual Ink tank system. Additionally, the i560 is the world's first PictBridge enabled Bubble Jet printer, designed to allow consumers to print directly from any PictBridge compatible camera or digital video (DV) camera regardless of brand.

As one of the fastest printers in its class, the i560 delivers print speeds of up to 22 pages per minute (ppm) in black and up to 15 ppm in color and it is capable of delivering a staggering 19 million droplets of ink per second at up to 4800 x 1200 dpi colour resolution. Dramatic improvements in speed and quality are based on the inclusion of the Canon technology previously found in the multi-award winning Canon i850 Bubble Jet printer, including the i850’s print head and multi-motor print engine.

“The i560 sees the marriage of two fantastic technologies in the one printer, at an amazingly affordable price. This printer combines the high speed and quality of the i850’s two and five picolitre ink droplet system with the convenience of PictBridge digital camera direct printing. Add to this Canon’s Individual Ink Tank system and borderless photo printing capabilities and you have the ideal all-rounder for home or small office,” said Glenn Stubbs, Senior Product Manager, Consumer Imaging Products Group, Canon Australia.

With a PictBridge enabled camera or digital video camera, consumers can easily print pictures at home, or the office, to any PictBridge enabled printer. Users simply connect the digital camera or DV camera to the printer with a USB cable. The i560 is also backwards compatible with all Bubble Jet Direct compatible cameras.

The i560 print head uses a Canon-exclusive technology that combines ultra-fine two picolitre drops for exceptional quality and detail when printing photos, and five picolitre droplets for fast text and graphics printing.

The print head also features 1600 nozzles and advanced Microfine Droplet Technology to eject a precisely measured volume for each droplet, resulting in a higher quality photo print and increased print speeds. The Canon Individual Ink Tank System provides outstanding operating economy, using four individual tanks that can be replaced separately as each tank runs out.

To virtually eliminate colour variance and banding during high-speed printing, the i560 printer has a symmetrical print head and Advanced Precision Color Distribution Technology.

With a printing speed of approximately 50 seconds for beautiful borderless 4" x 6" photos and a photo lab quality edge-to-edge borderless printing of 4” x 6”, 5” x 7” and 8.5” x 11” photos, the i560 makes printing digital photos at home convenient and practical.

The i560 Bubble Jet printer also supports Exif Print, the worldwide standard for high quality digital photo printing. Using Exif Print enabled software such as Canon's exclusive Easy-PhotoPrint software or via PictBridge technology, the printer is able to use recorded data from Exif 2.2 equipped digital cameras and camcorders for image reproduction that is true to the original scene.

Software & Compatibility
The i560 Bubble Jet comes with a comprehensive Canon printer software bundle, including:

· Easy-PhotoPrint – designed to take advantage of Exif Print compatible digital camera images, making it easy to get great looking photo prints;

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
