HP and Blue Fish444 provide broadcasters with new media solutions
HP workstations certified for new high definition digital TV

SYDNEY, 19 APRIL 2004 Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced that it has been certified by Australian developer Bluefish444 to run its 64bit PCI cards in HP workstations, benefiting those in the high end broadcast industry. HP workstations are the first to pass the certification process, demonstrating the workstation's significant performance advantages.

Broadcast and film studios, production houses, content creators, visual effects artists and industrial and manufacturing companies will all benefit from using Bluefish444's 64bit standard definition and high definition PCI cards on HP workstations which ensure high end production and editing competency.

With Australia having recently made the switch from standard definition to digital and high definition television, the demand for Bluefish444's latest technology is rapidly increasing. The partnership between HP and Bluefish444 allows broadcasters to transfer large amounts of information in real time at higher resolutions and better colour ranges and depth.

"The certification of HP workstations demonstrates our commitment to technical excellence and high end performance," said Manpal Jagpal, Market Development Manager, Workstations, Personal Systems Group (PSG), HP Australia.

"Bluefish444 is a well regarded expert in the field of production and editing solutions, having won industry awards for High Definition Technology."

Bluefish444 continually tests numerous motherboards, configurations and name brands to deliver its digital production and editing solution, according to Paul Cameron, Applications Systems Engineer for Bluefish444.

"High definition broadcasting requires very powerful machines and many of those we tested did not meet the criteria required to run our 64bit PCI cards.

"Our cards and HP's workstations provide a means for artists to see their changes and content playing back in real time and through various media."

Bluefish444 identified HP workstations as having superior data transfer capabilities as well as utilising Intel's 7505 chipset to ensure optimum performance. HP workstations fully support multiple and independent 64bit slots and are fully supported globally.

Mr Cameron said it is extremely easy to integrate Bluefish444’s cards with HP workstations, as HP makes the whole process smooth and trouble free.

"All you have to do is take the workstation straight out of the box and it's so well laid out that installation is a breeze."
